Primal skincare at its finest

What is Tallow

Simply put, tallow is rendered beef fat. But it’s so much more than just that. Tallow contains many beneficial nutrients that are crucial for healthy skin. It’s full of stearic, oleic, conjugated linolenic, palmitoleic, palmitic, alpha-linolenic, and linoleic acids. Aside from moisturizing and softening skin, these acids work to improve your skin's structural integrity and barrier function, decrease redness and inflammation, treat various skin ailments, lighten pigmentation caused by UV radiation, and reduce the appearance of scars and fine lines. Tallow is also abundant in vitamins A, D, K, and E. These vitamins help promote firm youthful skin by fighting off free radicals while repairing the damage already done. The foundation of our high-quality tallow begins with the finest suet, specifically found around the kidney. Our tallow products exclusively utilize suet, not trim fat, ensuring superior quality. Suet tallow boasts higher nutrient density, featuring elevated levels of cancer-fighting CLA’s (conjugated linoleic acid), oleic, palmitic & stearic acids, Omega 3 fatty acid, and bioavailable vitamins A, D, E, K. Beyond its nutritional richness, it is non-greasy and excels in skincare applications. Will tallow clog my pores? No, it’s noncomedogenic and is extremely compatible with the oil your skin naturally produces. Whatever your skin type, tallow will work to improve it's health and appearance.

Bottom line: just put some tallow on it.

EMU OIL

Our emu oil is AEA Certified Grade A. We like to call it skincare panacea, a solution to many skin concerns. Due to the small size of this oil molecule, it is easily absorbed and quickly starts to improve skin at the cellular level. Once applied topically, emu oil has the potential to decrease the signs of aging, increase collagen production and skin elasticity, reduce fine lines, hasten burn and wound healing, lighten scars and stretch marks, decrease inflammation and aid in the treatment of uncomfortable skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Ultimately we all want baby soft skin and emu oil is a key ingredient in achieving this.

What we like to call "The blue one".

Let's get rid of skin discoloration, hyperpigmentation and inflammation. Aside from the tallow and emu oil, this balm contains a high concentration of oils and botanical extracts that work to moisturize, soothe and restore the health of your skin.
Baobab Oil:

Baobab oil is not only nourishing to the skin, but it’s also considered a hydrator due to its ability to improve moisture retention within the skin. Baobab contains fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. These components aid in diminishing the causes and symptoms of acne and other skin ailments, as well as encouraging skin cell regeneration. The high concentration of vitamin C in the oil brightens the complexion by lightening dark spots and increasing collagen production.

Squalane Oil:

Squalane is naturally found in human skin, but as we age we produce less of it, so it’s important to add this oil to our skin care routine through topical application. It is a light, nongreasy oil that is easily absorbed and penetrates deep within the skin. At the cellular level, this oil increases blood circulation, boosts collagen production, balances oil production and increases skin hydration by decreasing moisture loss. This is another key ingredient for healthy and hydrated skin.

Meadowfoam Oil:

Meadowfoam is a lightweight oil that contains skin-protective properties. 3-methoxyphenyl acetonitrile and 3-methoxyphenl isothiocyanate found in the oil increase the skin’s ability to fight harmful UVB rays and decrease the occurrence of hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage. Also, due to its ability to form a protective barrier over the skin, other ingredients within our balm are able to deeply penetrate into the dermis for optimal effect.

Blue Tansy, Helichrysum, and Chamomile:

Blue tansy, helichrysum, and chamomile contain anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. These components help clear congested pores while killing pathogenic microbes that cause redness and inflammation. Another key to healthy skin is topical antioxidants that work synergistically to promote a youthful glow by nourishing and protecting the skin. Antioxidants in these botanical elixirs, such as polyphenols and phytochemicals, work to reduce signs of aging by protecting the skin from free radical damage. Helichrysum, known as immortelle, means everlasting. How beautiful is that?

Plum and Pomegranate Oil:

The inclusion of plum and pomegranate oil in our Rejuvenating Balm not only lends a naturally pleasant scent but also imbues it with a wealth of vitamins, fatty acids, polyphenols, and antioxidants. These oils function as emollients, providing profound nourishment, soothing properties, and intense moisturization. Both are abundant sources of naturally occurring Vitamin C, which works to brighten the skin by diminishing the appearance of scarring and hyperpigmentation, while simultaneously boosting collagen production and reducing fine lines. With these ingredients, we're talking about promoting skin that's light, tight, plump, and radiant.

Our Rejuvenating Balm works to deeply penetrate the layers of skin to nourish, heal and moisturize.

Oh, Honey
Intense Repair Balm

First things first, tallow and emu oil are also bases for this balm. Scroll up to read the many benefits of those two ingredients if you haven’t already. This product contains many other potent medicinal components that are beneficial for all skin types and concerns.

As you might have guessed, Oh, Honey Balm contains bee-derived ingredients. Let’s get into it!

Manuka Honey:

Manuka honey is named as such because its nectar is derived from the flowers of the manuka tree native to New Zealand. We use pure, high-quality manuka honey with UMF gradings of 24+ and 1122+ MGO. What makes this honey special is its high concentration of essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, as well as its strong antimicrobial properties. This honey works by soothing inflammation and fighting oxidative stress. In other words, delaying the signs of aging while promoting a smooth complexion. This ingredient especially benefits those who struggle with inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and acne, as well as working wonders for those who choose to use it for its anti-aging benefits. Our raw manuka honey also helps balance the skin's pH and microbiome. It’s important to understand that not all microbes are bad. There is a complex and diverse community of beneficial microorganisms that are composed of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other little critters that live on our skin and make up our unique microbiome. These microscopic ecosystems are vital for the health and protection of our skin’s barrier from the real bad guys. When the skin's microbiome and pH are balanced, there is a reduction in inflammation, redness, and irritation. Not to mention the increase in healing and decrease in signs of aging. Raw manuka honey works beautifully in balancing the pH of the skin and in protecting the healthy balance of your skin's microbiome.   Honey is a great moisturizer; it’s a natural humectant, similar to hyaluronic acid, drawing moisture into the skin to promote a soft, plump, and supple appearance. This is why we recommend, for optimal effect, that this balm be applied and massaged into damp skin. Continuing with the theme of honey, our balm also contains added royal jelly, pollen and propolis. These ingredients contain powerful antioxidants, various vitamins, trace minerals and amino acids. We are talking about ingredients that boost collagen production, increase skin regeneration and repair, and reduce inflammation.

Royal jelly:

Royal jelly alone contains 185 beneficial compounds that nourish and revitalize skin at the cellular level. It’s the primary food source of the queen bee who lives an average of 40 times longer than the worker bees. This led to royal jelly being commonly referred to as the “elixir of youth”.

Bee Pollen:

One of the many benefits of bee pollen is nucleic acids, which stimulate skin regeneration and prevents premature aging.

Propolis:

Propolis, containing over 300 active compounds, works beautifully at creating a healthy, even skin tone due to its many strong anti-oxidants and anti-microbial properties.

Myrrh, Frankincense, Chamomile, Geranium and Neem:

Let’s move on to our other ingredients. Our Oh, Honey Balm has a high concentration of myrrh, frankincense, chamomile and geranium. We also added a touch of neem. These extracts are potent antioxidants, having anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Individuals who are struggling with skin issues such as acne, eczema and various other inflammatory conditions will find relief. These extracts are also astringent, meaning they contract the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores, improving the overall tone and elasticity of the skin. Neem, chamomile and geranium help balance skin oil production, decreasing the occurrence of overly oily or dry skin. All of these ingredients are also known to combat signs of aging by promoting improved skin circulation and skin rejuvenation.

Calendula:

We also adore another botanical extract found in our Oh, Honey Balm: calendula oil. While commonly associated with baby products, this yellow flower extract boasts numerous benefits for adults as well. Calendula facilitates increased blood flow and oxygenation to the skin, thereby enhancing its rejuvenation and detoxification processes. Moreover, it harbors natural sun protective properties, acting as a sunscreen with an approximate SPF of 14. Recognizing its multifaceted advantages, we've ensured that adults can enjoy its benefits too.

These are just some of the heavy hitters in our Oh, Honey Balm. This product also contains other potent ingredients that work in combination with those mentioned to improve the overall health and appearance of all skin types.
